Does anyone know if SGU allows deferments? I applied to Fall 2004 but was granted acceptance for Jan 2005. My financial situation just changed drastically and feel I need a little time to work it out. Does anyone have experience with the deferment process?

I'm almost certain you can defer your acceptance, but you need to call the school and talk with them about your situation. They WILL work with you!

SGU does not defer students into the next entering class. What they will do is throw your application into the next entering class pool and you will go through the whole process again. But you probably wont need to resubmit anything else. The bad part about that is you are taking a chance. Most likely if you got accepted once you will again but thats still a gamble.

They will re-evaluate your application against the following term class, but they do not allow one to defer their application.
I wanted to do this since I was accepted for the previous spring term and felt that I didn't have enough time to prepare for leaving for GND and wanted to finish up some papers at work so that my research would get published in medical journals.
I was admitted again into the fall term class and was able to publish some works as well, so it worked out for me. Just ask your advisor to delay/re-evaluate your application against the next term of applicants. That is all you need to do.
