Actually, there is no conspiracy.

Per our class representative who had e-mailed finacial aid at MEIO, the new financial aid checks from the government will be HALF the amount you qualify for (the balance is made up by private loans). The other half of your federal loans will be held by Uncle Sam for distribution the following semester, thereby preventing anyone else from making financial gains on interest from YOUR HARD BORROWED MONEY.
