Anyone have complaints? I think some of the complaints my class has isn't getting through... well, I think if it affects the applicant pool by making complaints public, maybe the adminstration will start listening. So I'll start with Housing, they really have to get their act together.

The Housing Office SUCKS. Their expecting people to move out for the incoming people, because it's a large class, I can understand. But the 3rd and 4th semester students have 8months and 4months left, respectively. They're kicking them out and expecting to find a contract for 8/4 months? Maybe 8 months, but 4 months? Be realistic, why not take a moment and understand what the students are going through. Not to mention alot of the doors don't work and locks. The announcement of KICKING STUDENTS out of dorm, "coincidentally" happened on exam week... how's that for "catering to the student?" Also, what the hell is that smell at night? Does the housing office allow the sewage from the dorms be used as fertilizer?

i agree with you that its a difficult situation to try to find a contract for four or eight months. but!! no fourth semester was kicked out of the dorms unless they did not sign up on the list to stay next semester. all the fourth semesters that either signed the list to stay next semester or are going to be R.A's are staying. i do know of a couple of fourths that are getting kicked out but they never signed the list to stay in the dorms next semester. they either forgot or decided to move out.

shouldn't be a surprise to anyone when you sign up it says that 1st semester strudents have priority....their timing sucks though giving notices in the middle of exam week....in the caribbean money talks and there are no rules so if you need a place i'm sure you can even find on by the hour....

my complaint is still the block exams, so here are the latest circulating rumors:

1) nothing will change
2) doing away with block exams
3) drop the lowest test grade
4) curve exams like at ross

Not many people know that some of the clinical sights that AUC claims to have are no longer available.
1. AUC has NO Chicago spots ... the website is NOT accurate.
2. Houma, LA has recently fell thru ... have they let the student body know ... HELL NO!
3. Major communication issue between the school and student body
Enough for now,

Aloha,

Me too.... I hate myself.

Although all the other things bother me, it isn't that big of a deal as compared to the block system. That's the problem with small schools. Changes go on too quickly and nobody thought it through with all the "what ifs." Why fix it if it ain't broken? Oh wait, let's break it more...

yeah.. i meant to mention that earlier about their timing... the way the school decided to tell the "evicted" students and the particular day they decided to tell them was completely inappropriate. four days before a block exam is not the time to be stressing students even more. as far as the dorms being priority for the new students always... that has always been a policy and it has never had to be enforced until now due to the lower numbers of the past incoming classes.

as far as louisiana being closed... THAT SUCKS!!!! i know of some people in my class that were planning on going there.

are you sure about houma?

we were told about st anthony's in chicago but that was bc the hospital will no longer have residency programs as of july this year but they signed contracts with another chicago hospital and one in south florida, they didn't say anything about louisiana as a matter of fact there was a med student that talked to a few of us who was starting rotations there this month....?

I don't know, the last time I checked St. Anthony's website, they had residency spots AND applications for med students. I'm too lazy to check it again since I don't care much for Chicago.

As for the other Chicago hospital, they didn't say that they signed anything. THey said they were in the talks of obtaining this one site from Finch(I think it's called something else now).

is anyone else annoyed at the fat blonde lady at the registrar office? Or the new blonde girl at housing? Where do they get these people, seriously. It's suppose to be a school where you train doctors, with people like them two and their unprofessionalism, it really puts a stain on the quality of the school... of course there are other stains that i haven't even begun to mention...

You'd best be hoping your annonymity holds up, as there are professors, registrars, and AUC admin that peruse these fora regularly...

wow!! i am surprised at that. both of the ladys you speak of are always nice, professional and courteous to students. i dont know what incident you have had with these two people but i agree with jon. dont let yourself be known. if you have a genuine problem with anyone at the school, you should handle that problem professionally. using name calling and remarks like yours takes me back to my middle school memories when we used to make fun of the teachers behind their backs.

again, wow!!

Thanks guys :D I apologize to anyone that believes I, or anyone else at AUC, has treated them unprofessionally. I honestly do my best to help, and I am saddened that someone has thought otherwise :( However, I do welcome all feedback, preferably in a professional manner; no appointment is necessary. My office hours are from 8am until 3pm, but I often stay later to assist students.

Best wishes,

TXd has become "the hunted."

I suppose he or she has some form of courage.

Just a side note, I emailed someone from the housing office who told me that she was the spouse of a student. She was extremely professional and courteous. Thanks if that was you Nikky!

I don't agree, if he does, then he should reveal himself/herself. Hiding being a screen name is easy, revealing yourself and bitching about the school takes a bit more guts.

txd, one might conclude from your post that AUC's mistake was not made by adding these people to the staff, but rather by adding you to the student body. As a person considering attending AUC next fall, I hope that your attitude toward people and your apparent arrogance are not representative of the entire AUC community.

Whats up with locking my topic? I was looking forward to getting blasted by some and getting a discussion going about what it takes to get through AUC with others (or something other that the standard stuff). All my posts have always included a bit of a punch...to make some laugh and make others think, well really more for a laugh. I have been told by many at the school that this site is a waste of space. We used to have some good "heated discussions" but I quess FLK isn't down with that. Why then are you so bent out of shape if people ask what there chances are?? Why is that so bad compared to the AUC vs Ross vs Saba, etc topics or the endless cell phone and dog questions or the clinical questions???? I mean, the cycle of questions isn't even a semester long... its more like every three weeks. FLK must of had a bad week or maybe he can't handle the massive power that is ValueMD. If you need a point to a post here, well FLK, get that clicking finger warmed up cause you've got a lot more threads to lock up. I mean really... if you're on the island just go to school to get your information (go to the source) and if you're not on the island, for God sakes just call MEIO (or email them). This place was a lot more fun when trmedic was around.
