Thanks...it was truly both honor and privilege to represent AUC at a national congress. It certainly changed people's opinions of caribbean schools (if they didn't know we existed, they sure do now!) and it was nice to be a part of gaining recognition for the AUC as a whole.

that is spectacular. Goes to show that great people come from the most unlikely places. I guess the more success a place has the less "unlikely" those successes become

PS
I got audited from the IRS last year over a 1000$ travel grant I won during my fellowship.

funny thing was that had I not received the award, the department would have picked up the tab for that particular meeting.
stupid IRS dinged me for several hundred dollars :-angryk

better luck to you guys

Just thought I would add something ... one of my friends came to AUC a couple of years ago ... honored all his classes and then reapplied to LSU and got in. He had to start over from scratch. Well at the conference, I had a lengthy discussion with the Head Anatomist at LSU. He said he was a bit skeptical initially about this caribbean kid and what he knew. However, the next sentence out of his mouth was ... "Boy was I incredibly wrong!" He then proclaimed that kid was a "STAR." And continued to say "if he was any representation of what AUC is all about, then we are in great hands." I was extremely impressed and glad to hear that our reputation of turning out "STARS" has hit the US med schools. It was definitely an honor to attend the conference and network for our students at AUC.
Just a side note ... UCLA, UT-Houston, UF, Mayo clinic, Nebraska and Cambridge were just a few other schools that attended.
We need to keep working hard and it will continue to pay off!
Later,
Josh

Well i guess future AUC prospect should be thank current as well as grad's from AUC for performing well, that way the the reputation of this and other schools will increace, and can gain the respect or admiration of Local US schools.

Just wondering if in the future AUC turns out to rival or outperform the best US schools, that perhaps they might start demanding more from prospects to AUC(Higher GPA MCAt etc.), but then i also wonder that it was those students that for whatever reason were not able to study in the state's who worked hard, and are the one's making AUC a recognized and respected school.

Ah, a crushing defeat of John's Hopkins by AUC. I'll bet more than a few martinis got spilled over that one...

Just a thought- If we get 494 more responces to the this thread, will Josh and Bob get to say they have "citation classics"? (and would they 'oh-so-casually' bring it up as often as "you know who"?...)
