hi there,
I got accepted for Jan 05 in Saba. I am still waiting on the SGU board of Admisions. I was told by Bayshore that it takes 4 to 6 weeks for the board to get back to me. Now, i have to send a NON refundable deposit to Saba by June 23. My interview with SGU was on 5/23. I don't want to loose my$$ . If I am accepted by SGU I will be starting in August ( I hope...b/c I applied and was interviewed for August 04). I know there is a number of students in this situation. What did you guys/girls do?
I think I should just sent the deposit to secure my seat and wait ...
Feel free to comment.... I am just frustrated :-angryk

Hi stranger2,
I'd send the deposit to secure the seat at SABA, and wait on a decision from SGU. If you get accepted at SGU also, then you'd have a (good) dilemma on your hands...
Good Luck! :)

How much is this deposit? I had to pay Ross $700 while waiting for slow poke SGU. Pay the deposit and forget about it. It is a bag of peanuts compared to how much you will invest in your education.

in this circumstance all you can do is call sgu, be very nice and explain your situation, telling them you'd like to go to sgu but the deadline approaches. good luck.

You should call your admission advisor and tell them that your 1st choice is SGU but you have also been accepted somewhere else. They will probably ask you to write a letter to the admission committee and attach the acceptance letter from SABA and the letter which states when your deposits are due. I was in a similar situation and they asked me to do all that. I heard from them within a week. So give them a call and be very polite

I was in the exact same situation about a few months ago.
The SABA deposit is not that much in the greater scheme of things, and to give yourself some sanity, put your money down. That's what I did. Then you know you are set for a spot. Then hang out, relax, enjoy the rest of your summer with some piece of mind and patiently wait to hear from SGU. This is about as relaxed as you will get for a while, so make the most of it while you can.
About 3 weeks after my interview I gave them a ring and politely checked in. No answer over the phone because they have their own protocol (dont expect one)- the conversation seemed to help stir my application and let them know I am still inetersted.
After some time I heard from them, I was accepted. Then I made the next well thought out decision to attend SGU.
Good luck.

Once you choose your school, be sure to follow up with the other one and let them know you won't be coming. I would suggest sending a polite letter (it is worth the extra time, even for us busy meds). That way another student can be admitted and you won't be considered a "no show." You never know when you might need to contact that school again.
It might not seem like it, but you are in a very good position. You have a bird in the hand and might be able to improve your postion. Good luck.
