Dr. L and Dr. W. leaving????

Word is that Dr. L (path) and Dr. W (micro) are the next two profs to be leaving Saba. Dr. W has left to supposedly take care of an ill relative, but several of my contacts on nearby Statia say they have seen her looking for housing there. Will these two fine professors join the 3 professors who recently fled Saba and are now teaching on Statia and the 2 who recently left and are now teaching on Nevis???

sgMD is correct, in that Mario assumed I was a 1st semester student, which is NOT true. I am beyond 1st on the island. So, YES I have had Dr. W for Genetics and hence am entitled to state my opinion and experience with her. And I feel she is a tough examiner, yet an outstanding, extremely qualified lecturer. Her expectations are high, but then again that's exactly the level of rigor we need to perform well on Step 1 and beyond; in my opinion.

everytime I check valueMD, Mario is attacking another member (and his assumptions are wrong!)... I never see this when I check Ross or AUC's forum..... it's a shame how students who leave the island bash the lower sem students, thinking that they are simply god and whatever they say is perfect.

In fact, they've bashed so many students on valueMD that this forum is almost dead! .... if you've noticed, the only people who post here are mostly prospective students OR first sem students who havent been bashed enough by persons like Mario.... soon we realize talking out things is not worth the unreasonable 'attacks' ...

Speaking about algorithms, if I may let me interject a new optimization algorithm for ATC control as the old one seems to have allowed the aircraft to have diverted off the original vector. My graduate background prior to Saba was in quantitative analysis, neural networks, systems analysis and optimization algorithms in strategic planning. So here goes....

Current correct algorithm,

1. Drs. L and W are still on Saba faculty, and are serving in their respective positions.
2. Dr. H has recently split his time between Statia and Saba. Drs. L and W visited Statia recently. Reason unknown - frankly don't care.
3. Dr. W has a sick relative and may need to split her time between Saba and I believe North Carolina.
4. Dr. L is interested in taking Dr. H's position, should he elect to take a leave of absence or a permanent departure from Saba. That is a fact as of now. Anything else is just a rumor that somehow got started.:mrgreen:

I've talked to profs, and this rumor is just a B-S... now go back to study.... if anything, Saba is at its best shape right now... be proud of the school and the opportunity it's offering you instead of spreading baseless rumors...

My point was that Mario made 2 errors in his assumptions, which subsequently led to erroneous comments:

1. I am not in 1st semester (beyond that point).
2. Genetics has been shifted to 2nd semester and Psychology to 3rd.

The reason for this chronological shift in course sequencing is that the current NBME Shelf is a combined Biochemistry + Genetics knowledge section. The result was rather disastrous last semester, which resulted in a massive curve to keep the failure rate at a minimum. Meaning - more kinks are being worked out prior to finalizing the curriculum.

Mario has been off the island, I believe for close to 5 semesters. Caribbean programs are well known for being dynamic in nature; curriculums and other administrative paradigm shifts occur frequently. Hence, 5 semesters is a long time in such an environment and changes have occurred with I believe Mario was not aware of. Hence, his error in a previous post.

I can't speak for others, but I personally do not hate anyone on this forum. Sure, Mario and I have had our moments, but I do not dislike him. The most he has ever referred to me as is "miserable" and "thick-skulled". I don't mind that. This is an open internet forum. I've seen residents getting called a whole lot worse on rounds. And that's tough, especially when it may be coming from someone who will be writing your performance evaluations. Plus, myself and another older ex-CEO of a corporation are probably the only 2 most outspoken individuals in our class.
