EDIT
So, like I've gotten one PM, and the poster wanted me to like explain what I was saying.
Basically, Saba is adding a lot of interactive content to it's new site they have conjured up, which is great. Like we have access to chats, clinical vids, and like journal article searches. Wows, what a great change, ya knows.
But like along with that they have added a new requirement starting soon that students will have to complete weekly assignments based on interactive stuff and which rotation they are doing..this is in addition to the saba shelf they give us.
I don't know the nature of the assignments cos we don't have them yet but weekly seems like a lot to me. I dunno know if I likie.
But the new interactive stuff sounds so awesome and I hope once I see it I'll feel on par with some of the rossies who have access to cool medical content.
So, I was wondering what people thought of the new content and what they thought about the addition of the assignments?
I hope that clarify for peeps.

see...
looks like so many more basic sci students want information...where are all the clinical students?
why no opinions??? remember guys..it doesn't end on saba...it just continues and sometimes gets worse depending on what hospital you rotate!
anyway, come on clinical pals...give me a shout out!

^who needs clinical students, when we have seattle, since he/she knows everything from anatomy to harrisons to residency to fellowship to private practise and becoming a millionaire and beyond.
anyways...on a more serious note, SMU has these weekly assignments and midterm and final exams for each rotation.
my opinion? i think its a waste of time. rotations are very important for a transition from basic sciences to clinical sciences, where you need to learn all those things that are not in the book. and i would rather spend time learning more useful information that we have rotations for because tomorrow i dont wanna wake up and say 'oh crap! i dont know *** is going on with this patient.' these exams force linear thinking and a LOT of time is spent on worrying/'preparing' and scheduling these exams. lets not forget, there are old answers and qns going around that people are using and exams are like going through the motions for them.
this is a waste of time, especially when they are NOT the NBME exams either...you are taking 'SABA' exams.
i agree with the current end of rotation saba exam policy to a certain degree as it atleast keeps you 'in check' for usmle step 2 ck throughout your rotations; even though the content of those exams is horrible and the qns are poorly written.
but i think having more of those sorts of evaluations will be a monumental waste of time for students who are already busy with rotations and can do without these weekly assignments as i am sure it will be impossible to correlate a rotation schedule and teaching at wyckoff vs. bridgeport vs albany.

another personal attack to seattle (who is not even saying anything here!!) ...
I am hoping future students don't judge our school based on these 'immature' behaviour of students on valueMD...

^i hope the future students dont judge the schools reputation on the extremely poor reading ability of the students that are currently enrolled in basic sciences.
wow, you must really be 'sleepless WITHOUT seattle' these days. ;) i hope you get the joke and dont bombard us with another 4 page sermon.

feel exactly the same way, Mario. way to state it. I feel like it's gonna be a huge time waster for some who are already up to their ears in so much to do and a motivator for others who get stuck in cush core rotations because maybe they will actually learn something rather than go out and party. but that's just what I hope, and what I hope and what really happens in real life are two different things.
sorry people have been putting ya down. if only they knew what happens once they leave the island, lols.

I agree 100% with mario... why waste my time with yet another requirement when I have plenty of other things to be doing which directly relate to my current clerkship. If you have free time then by all means....
Does anybody know if this is *required* yet? I get the annoying emails saying to do this assignment or that but haven't done anything yet.... Hope I don't fail b/c of it.

i don't think it counts as a grade till May 1st but they are rolling out the program as we speak. so u might have to do it now as a trial perhaps but officially won't count till may 1st.
anyone know of anything different? cos the email today sounded like it was already in progress regarding counting for a grade and i haven't done anything either.
