For those of you who are attending or have graduated...
which entrance time is the smartest time to start if you would like to try for Michigan clinicals?

I would also like to know which semester (Jan, May, Aug) is the best time to start if you would like a Michigan clinical assignment? However, I'd like to know the positives and negatives of all semesters anyway?!

I don't think there is a big difference between Jan and May anymore since the class sizes are fairly similar. The September class is so big this time around..... well... it'll be like last semester when they had about 120 finishing up basic sciences. As for michigan clinicals, I don't know, I doubt anyone knows. Just do well in your classes and Step 1

Dont forget, after 5th semester is over, people take all different amounts of time off to study for and take Step 1...so thats where you start to get into the big variations...

there is small difference on your match and residency based on which class you start in (see other post)... as far as clilnical sites, including michigan, there is no specific time for each. its kinda hard to explain but according to the clinical sites office, the place where all clinicals assignments are passed out, they have not been able to fill 100 percent of their spots for the past few semesters (which included a huge class that just left). their people have said that in the past two semesters, they have only filled a total of about 70 percent of their spots. when you get place all depends on when you take your boards, how fast they send you your score, and how fast you can report that score to MEIO so they can give you a starting date. also, if they start their new proposed system, everyone's gpa might play a role in which order you get a certain clinical spot. you have to remember that clinical spots open up every 6 weeks or so and they can take a certain amount of students every time so according to them, no student has been told that they had to go to a specific clinical site when they did not want to. all these rumors about no clinical sites being available after you leave the rock are so untrue. anyways.. later,
