I am considering going to the Caribbean to study Medicine. I started my college career with Biology and did poorly and switched majors to Political Science and my grades shot up, I finally graduated and after that I retook my pre-med courses and made A's and B's, but it only brought my pre-med GPA to a 2.3, but my overall when I graduated was a 2.84 I also continued an MPH and made a 3.7 GPA. I have over 2000 hours of community service at the hospital and was very active in organisations on campus and student leader in many clubs. Would I be a good candidate?? Should I even apply??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I personally believe that you should go ahead and apply because though your scores were low initially, you appear to have shown improvement over time, as well as gaining a MPH, plus all of your hours for community service make your resume a little bit more solid.

Therefore, it can't hurt to apply.

apply, if you have good letters of rec and a good essay you hopefully can get a chance to prove yourself...then its up to you. spending 75 bucks for a shot at a better future...definitely worth it
good luck!!!

You have nothing to lose by applying. You'll never know if you don't apply.

Admission Committee's are always looking for candidates who are well rounded.

With solid LOR's, Personal Statement, and Resume, you have a good shot.

Good luck!
