Hey Guys,
Just curious if we really NEED a floppy drive with our laptop, or does a 32/64 meg USB key serve as a better choice?
And does anyone know how much the school charges for Office software?
Thanks,
IndianBabu

USB key is the way to go, much easier to deal with. but they are small, so just be careful not to lose it.

floppies are virtually worthless now; don't store enough data.
get a USB key, or just use CD-RW.
Office was given to us when we picked up our textbooks.

Hi there,
Could you elaborate on that? I'm in the process of ordering my laptop from dell right now, and I have the option of upgrading the standard software package, which is just Wordperfect, or pay an extra hundred bucks for MS Office...
Thanks a million!!

No, DO NOT buy Office XP... it is included in your first term book order, whether you want it or not. In fact, I already had it, but got stuck with another copy anyway.

Last time I checked, Costco had a 256 MB thumb drive by Sandisk for $49.99.
Sure, I've seen them for 40 dollars after rebate but if you're moving to the islands I doubt you'll be able to wait for a lousy rebate

Which version of Office XP do they provide?

Hi docks,
The booklist says we get "Microsoft Office - Student Version, Contains: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Photodraw, and Front Page".
Hope this helps!
