I submitted 5 LOR's with my application and that was perfectly fine with SMU. Make sure you have solid LOR's that explain your character, personality, ambitions, etc.

These LOR's will give the SMU admissions comm. an idea of who you are. They will also help with your app if your GPA is somewhat less competitive.
