Is there a specific cultural club at SGU like the Indian Cultural Association? Do they celebrate events like Diwali and Holi?

Students have told me they celebrate all of those major Indian events at SGU.
Take a look for yourself.

There is an Indian Students Association and they do celebrate Diwali and Holi and they are usually when they also put on a talent show where all races and religions get involved including the professors. The show includes, dances and skits put on byu students and profs for everyone.

Hi (Namaste!) IndianBabu,
Thanks so much for posting those links. Those are such great pictures!
Knowing that there's an active Indian Student's Association will definately make this transition easier...
Thanks again! :D

don't worry about what race of people are there. everyone is generally nice that you're not gonna have a problem making your "transition."

if this forum is any indiction, I'm sure everyone at SGU will help make the transition better :D ...you guys are awesome for answering the many random questions...in fact most of my questions were already posed and answered on this site...
...but to have a student group that will make your cultural and religious transition easier warrants note...this is something that I will take comfort in...
..unless you're suggesting that students tend to clump into cliques based on their races, religions, etc...because that's a different story...

I'm sorry if my comment was misinterpreted. I never meant to imply that meeting people of any specific race is preferable. Personally, I am really looking froward to the diversity of people I'll meet at SGU!

I agree that having a student group that will fascilitate one's cultural and religious transition is certainly a comfort.
I don't believe this necessarily implies that students tend to clump into cliques based on their races or religions. I know some students DO tend to do this, as I saw it in my own University at home. However, not everyone does this. My personal opinion is that by limiting oneself in this regard, you really miss out on meeting some great people...
With that said, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone on this froum who has been so incredibly helpful with answering questions - you guys are great! Your help DOES make this big move easier! :D

i dont think it was misinterpreted. I think we all know what youre talking about- finding folks who we feel at home with and who understand us. I just found that most people look for other's of a similar cultural background, whatever that may be to them. Ive just never personally done that. People by definition will seek out those with whom they feel a connection to but for whatever reason i never felt I could find that by identifying a group, be it race, religon, political stance, etc. Dont know why that is.
And drnick, Im sorry for your misfortune. I can only hope the me's of the world find you.

That wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
