On Sunday, june 20th USA will play Grenada in soccer at the national stadium here in Grenada. Many students (150+) have already bought tickets. Its being televised on ESPN2 so look for the SGU crowd on TV! Game starts at 4pm EST. If you're here in grenada, tickets can be bought at the Digicell store at the roundhouses/Le Marquis plaza. 40EC for pavilion seats (a.k.a. SGU student section).

Wish I could be there...do you know if the Grenadian national team will be playing any other countries from August on? Is this a World Cup qualifier?

Three of SGU's own will be working for ESPN2 during the game, including offering commentary in the press box and doing interviews and action from field level. I'd give names, but i believe that's against valuemd.com policy. Also, ESPN2 is supposed to donate American flags, body paint, and other cheer items to our section. So be watching, that kid who looks like he just got done swimming in a pool of paint might be your next doctor. Go USA! 8)

US 3 to 2 over Grenada on their home field. Did anyone watch it? Did ESPN2 show any shots of the students? It was REALLY neat to be there, to sing the National Anthem and belt it out, to represent my country while in another, and to be amongst grenadians who held no anamosity towards us. Our team walked onto the field holding hands with grenadian children, and at the end the 2 teams exchanged jerseys. Grenada really knows how to cheer on their team - drums and chants. And boy was it a wet one. It rained off and on all day and the field was soaked and muddy. Its just too bad most of the school had gone home for the summer and couldn't be there. It was something i hope i never forget. I'm pretty sure the US won't get such a warm welcome in Athens for the olympics. I hope to post pictures soon. Let us know if you find any as well.

I watched the game. They did show the students a couple times and mentioned they were from St. George's. Other than that they didn't focus on much else but the game. It looked like a lot of fun. Wish this would have happened at this time last year when I was there but then again being able to sit in a nice airconditioned room back in the States wasn' t so bad either.

hey guys...

I saw the game on ESPN2 live....it was awesome to see some of the scenery etc during the start and the half time :) There were some shots of the carenage etc!!! ;)
There were a BUNCH of US supporters so much so that one of the commentators had to say that the game wasnt being played in the US but actually in Grenada.
Grenada played very well and did well to score 2 against the US. There were missed chances for both teams but it could have very easily been 3-3 if not for one grenadian guy who shot the ball wide when it was just the keeper facing him ;) after he beat the defense.

anyways... nice to see the island on tv even if it was for a brief time....
