1. Are highyield series alone good enough to study instead of regular text books large textbooks?
2. Does the First Aid for USMLE step 1 prep, have to be 2004 or previous years?
3. How many days early to go to Cayman[ some say 2 wks & some say 10 days] to be ideal?

No - i personally think the high yield books are crap. the books that i like alot are the BRS series, not only do they actually have all the pertinent information presented in a clear concise manner, but they have great questions to review from. i will put up a new post with the text books that i think all first semesters should have, hopefully it will help you out.

2. Does the First Aid for USMLE step 1 prep, have to be 2004 or previous years?

Yes - the first aid should be the latest possible, to reflect current changes within the USMLE, no matter how small.

3. How many days early to go to Cayman[ some say 2 wks & some say 10 days] to be ideal?

I came about 5 days early, i got totally acclimated and was fine, but if you are going to get a car i would suggest that you come at least a week early, to get everything in order and have enough time to enjoy yourself on the island before things start going...because when classes start you really have to work hard and wont have much time for social activities.

well i hope that helps, feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

good luck!!!

With the combination of the High Yield books, the BRS books, and the Professor's power point presentations, you should be well covered. The High Yield and BRS cover key concepts that you are most likely to be tested on. So, it saves you a lot of time by getting to the main stuff.
