How does getting prescription drugs work in st marteen, do people bring their prescriptions from home, do they see a dr. in st marteen or do pharmacies sell without prescriptions/have an onsite dr. to write them (as is done in mexico and certain south american countries)?

It depends on the drug, as far as I understand. Some drugs you might need prescriptions for in the States, you might not need for here. I would call Orange Grove Pharmacy (one of the better ones on the island) and talk to them about your particular prescriptions and they'll tell you what you need.

I used to see the pharmacist in Mullet Bay (just after Maho, towards the school on the left) and he was pretty cool about giving what I was used to requiring a prescription for.

The guy at Orange Grove will generally sell you what you need without a prescription if you tell him you're a med student. It's in a plaza on the way out of Cole Bay, heading toward the Grand Marche.

As wingz said, depends on the med. If you walk in and ask for a controlled substance, they'll tell you to get a script, and it generally has to be from a local physician. If you walk in and ask for Nexium, you'll get it.
