So I was looking at SJSM website and notice that it will be ten years old in 2010 making them eligible for OSAP. Has the school said anything to its students??

Ontario Student Loan Program. Its a government loan for school but you must be an Ontario resident to get it.

Oh decided not to go to SJSM. However from my interview process I was told that they will recieve OSAP by March. I have applied for OSAP for Windsor and the process is quite simple and not that different from Undergrad.
You fill out the application online. From there you have three forms: Signature Page/Parent Signature (depending on how long you've been out of highschool)/ School Information.
The last page must be filled out by the school and resubmitted for OSAP. However SJSM from my experience is a very professional and organised school so I wouldn't worry about them messing that up.
Also remeber it is 210/week for international schools thus a max of 10,000 per year which can actually make a nice dent at SJSM.

Hey there,
thanks for the info! Really appreciate it...just wondering, why did you reject St.James offer? I haven't applied yet but I'm in the process of choosing the right Caribbean medical school for me...and I'm a little confused/limited as I haven't taken organic chem. or written my MCAT.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Cheers,
BP

Well for one you should really take organic chemistry. Its actually necessary to understand alot of concepts in medicine. Have you take an introductory Biochemistry.
Anyways the reason I chose not to go with SJSM had to do with clinical fees. At 7,000 a semester plus rent I did not see me being able to afford this. Also by leaving on Bonaire things add up as it is costly to ship, costly to fly there and rent prices. So really its a cost factor.

Note: I read the other thread where you asked about Bonaire/Anguilla- I'm 90% certain you won't be allowed to use OSAP if you go to Anguilla. Call OSAP and ask them.

Hey thanks again for your reply
I haven't taken biochem either. But I've taken chem I and II, bio I and II, physics I and II, physiology, and a BUNCH of courses in neuroscience (I'm majoring in neuroscience)....do you really think that I should take organic or biochem? will I suffer later on? the reason why I didn't take it was because U of Toronto does not require any second year (organic or biochem) courses for admission into their MD program...so I figured that knowledge in upper year chemistry was not necessary..

If you were to take Biochem it would help you allot but organic chem would not be helpful. But if you did bio 1/2 already at UofT you should be fine for med school here. However, it would be to your advantage to take Biochem, some students who never took it in undergrd struggled with it. Then again I have 2 friends that did well without ever taking it....but for sure you dont need organic. My 2 cents at least

You should contact the financial aid office at your university and they'll give you detailed insturctions as to how to apply. You can find St. James School of Medicine on OSAP's list by going to the following website:

CanLearn Interactive - CanLearn.ca (http://tools.canlearn.ca/cslgs-scpse/cln-cln/40/mdl-reea-1-eng.do?nom-name=inter)

i think the osap school listing is refreshed every month .... when i spoke to the admissions office they said that i should look at the beginning of next month .... hopefully that gives me enough time to get osap sorted out before i head out at the end of april....
