I am currently looking at SGU and UHSA pre med program. Do you feel that the pre med program at UHSA prepared you for medical school? What is your averally opinion of UHSA medical school? Any other thoughts would be nice.

Good morning
The special program for high school graduates is designed for qualified and motivated high school students who seek a career in medicine. The Integrated Premedical – Medical Program (INTEPREM) is an attempt to eliminate the sharp division between premedical and medical education and also to shorten the time required for obtaining the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree to six (6) years.
The program (INTEPREM) also allows the matriculation of students from around the world regardless of the individual variations of the educational system of their home country.
Students are selected for the program (INTEPREM) in the senior year of high school. There are no specific high school course requirements, but applicants are required to take either SAT, ACT or College Board examinations. Of great importance to the Admission Committee are such factors as interest in the humanities, sciences, evidence of intellectual curiosity and extracurricular activities.
The first year of the program is devoted to the study of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Composition, Medical Terminology and Spanish.
The second year is devoted to courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology. In addition, weekly seminars are also given by the medical faculty to introduce students to a wide range of medical specialties and problems.
The premedical phase also includes two summers of structured academic enrichment or two summers of volunteer human services in a health related agency (Red Cross, U.S. Corps, etc.) usually in a developing nation or urban setting.
Upon completion of the first two years, students join the members of the regular first year class which includes other students who have had the traditional four years of premedical education or requirements specified in the information booklet of the University.
The Bachelor of Sciences (B.S.) degree is awarded after successful completion of the second year at medical school, and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree is awarded after successful completion of the senior year at medical school.
You can find the outline and course description at our webpage; Relocate (http://www.uhsa.ag)
If you want to find information of some of our graduates that are currently practicing, you can once you are in our page look for the graduate corner.

What nonsense!
Explain this so called “special program for high school graduates that is is designed for qualified and motivated high school students who seek a career in medicine.”
SMART SERIOUS SINCERE STUDENTS who want to get into a proper medical school should go to college in the USA and do an appropriate course of study and do the MCAT instead of falling for this propaganda and advertising.
Don’t fall for this junk.
Courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Composition, Medical Terminology and Spanish etc can be done at local community colleges in the USA far less cheaply without dislocating your life.
What “special program for high school graduates that is is designed for qualified and motivated high school students who seek a career in medicine” What!
uhsa is struggling badly—even uhsadoc told you that earlier this year!
AUA UMHS WINDSOR and all these other newer schools are giving uhsa great competition and grief!

Uhsadoc
Is it really true that although they started since 1982 around the same time as SGU Ross AUC that uhsa do NOT have the status or recognition that these schools have, or the numbers of students in resedencies or licensed as these schools?
Uhsadoc says “In my opinion UHSA is by far better than many of the new schools advertising here at ValueMD......the faculty is sound, the facilities are up to date, and most, if not all the students I know passed the USMLEs on first attempt......
Uhsadoc says that it is impressive that the school has existed for over 25 years.
But one wonders why it does not attract the attention, and the numbers of students that schools that have started for only a few years such as say AUA do. One wonders too why it is not accredited by the state of NY as AUA was able to do in less than 5 years existence.
I wonder if uhsa doc can swear on any bible that the poster who said that uhsadoc. once sent a big ugly rough man to his parents home twice seeking for him in 2003 and 2004 is not telling the truth
Is it true that uhsa threatened to sue a certain poster on VMD because of his website?
What kind of established school does these things?

This school has given me the run around for the last month. Over the last month A. who i am amsuming is the receptionist has told me the following, about the admission dept "I am sorry she is with another student","admission is out till Monday", "I will have the admission office call you right back." Still no one has contacted me. Yes, one has to wounder why after 25 years UHSA dosnt hold accredidation from New York, Texas, Florida or California? Why is this school not attracting more students, or more widly known?

If you can get into both programs, I would tend to side with SGU. I dont know much about UHSA, but SGU has a pretty strong track record in the caribbean medical market. But the above poster was correct. I would highly recommend going to get an undergraduate degree. I think 99% of caribbean students would agree that going to a US medical school is much preferred. Plus, my feeling is that undergraduate gives you the chance to mature socially and academically to do well in medical school.

It is extremely interesting these posts. The more time a spend in this site the more I am convinced. There is a quite old saying in PR that the truth does not scream it convinces. If your respective schools are so good as you say why do you get so upset and emotional. Why don't you spend more effectively your time to enhance more the image of your respective schools, because you are not prospective students. Let the students decide by themselves and conduct your postings with objectiveness. Please don't forget that this is a site where students get information not a site where to expose personal issues.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.

And lets not forget and review the posters, most if not all are "newbees" or perhaps, old posters under new name ??
There is no room for school bashing, really not professional.
Also please be reminded that it is not the school as much as the person !!
Cheers :)

Is UHSA seeking accredidation from New York, Texas, Florida or California? Has UHSA been banned from any state? Is it true the school is in desperate need of money?

UHSA has at this present time MD's licensed to practice in New York. What we are putting together know are the documents to apply so our students can do more than 12 weeks of rotations in NY hospitals. This will also apply for Florida. In regards of the situation of California, they never conducted a site visit to Antigua. They issued a order of disapproval because the school did not answered on a required time frame a questionare.
In regards of money well is funny your statement, the 50 acres of land where the school stands are fully paid as well as every structure that stands in the school. 27 years not 3 or 5 of existense. We have our students with a non agressive marketing. Maybe very diferent from other schools that with a knife in their mouth just do whatever it takes to affect the image of other schools in the same field. This kind of forum is sad so say allows this kind of actions in users that identify themsleves as newbies but they are really staff from other schools and not prospective students just looking for information to make their minds before taking a final decisition.
Happy Holidays.:clapover:
