Plane tickets from the Left Coast

for all of you that have been trying to buy a ticket from the west coast and it seems to be costing an arm and a leg ($1600+) I have looked into flying jet blue from oakland or long beach to san juan and then san juan to grenada on american. the cost runs around 650-700. this might be something to look into. The only catch is that you have to book seperately.

Is that with the SGU star file #? I'm not booking from the west coast but the American Airlines agent told me the star file gives you a standardized ticket price (I think it was 650- not positive though) and then they add on individual airport taxes, etc. so the whole thing would be around 700 but you wouldn't have to book separately.
Just a thought.
