Irrelevant, unless something drastic has happened in the past two semesters it might be better for you to show your bank balance because that's all that matters.
To be honest I'm not trying to be rude. If you had to choose a carribean school you would probably choose the one which is better at being a business than in the academic front as it might last longer in the current financial climate.
Why do you want to come to this school?? can you seriously not get in anywhere else?? If so then go there if not then yes by all means come here.
It's a business, please remember that...

agree with the above, here is the order DO> SGU > AUC > Ross > SABA > SMU

would you put SMU with AUA and MUA all on the same playing field?

Actually AUA is moving ahead of us now, they're buiding a REAL campus, got NY already and Cali approval is getting real now. The downside? It's not that cheap!

Pretty much agree with Senz, exhaust all your option even if it means delaying for 4 years etc...
It's no a race but once you start it's hard to stop and change events (crappy analogy but you get it)

its a good school but there are no loans and we are cali disapproved. those are two very huge red flags.

DO being number is your opinion.
I was accepted into the DO program but I chose to go the MD route,
and here I am at SMU.
Worth it? Absolutely yes. I rather have a universally accepted MD degree,
some states migh tpose a problem, but I can go to any country in the world
and practice medicine.

Call my old fashioned but DOs are nothing in other countries. I had never heard of them before coming to SMU. (please do not try having this conversation with a DO as they very very offended)
They do the same exams go to the same rotations yes but they are not Doctors.
You wanted to be a doctor right?? not a DO
SMU is a good school academically it is very sound, it's just the loan situation and Cali that's holding it back.
Just think of it like a time line (very much like the one Doc Brown draws in back to the future). In one time line you killed the mcats went to a US school got a good residency at end of it. Now it seems you're on another time line. SMU however gives you the chance to learn what went wrong and sort out any academic gliches you might have had or social ones that prevented you from getting into a medical school (sociallising too much etc...) so that when you're ready to take the usmle you'll basically be back on your original timeline having learnt a few important life lessons along the way.
But.... if you plan to go to SMU and treat it like any other university you will fail or pass (which quite frankly at SMU is not good enough). Remember no one at SMU is going to be your competition. Your only competition is yourself on your previous timeline.

Hope this helps...

So you what would you call the many DO general surgeons, orthopods, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, EPs, FPs, internists, etc? Nurses? Non-doctoral-medical-practitioners? Please. Get your facts straight before posting nonsense.
Straight from the AOA (American Osteopathic Association) website:
"Currently, D.O.s have full practice rights in 44 countries and partial practice rights in eight countries."
I'll leave the actual list of countries for you find, but Google is a start.

But people still regard DOs with some stigma hence the Carribean route many of the US students have taken.

I think the MD/DO argument is worthless...but the DO route is simply not a good option for those of us who want to be recognized in certain countries abroad. Personally I want to go back to South Africa and work at some point and as of now...a DO is worthless! That says nothing about the DO degree or those that are DO's...but it does have an impact on those who want to do something outside of the countries that recognize the degree.

I'm just repeating the views of what alot of my friends said about DOs and they're from the States.
There is no difference on paper. Some people even go so far as to think PAs are the same as Mds. There seems to be a stigma attached and it's not just down to the fact that they cannot practice in some countries.
Where's Failboy??
