now i know this sounds like a dumb question, but in fact its a little confusing. for instance i went to st johns university in NY and to attain a ** in biology i had to take about 32 credits of biology courses, then of course the 1 year chem, 1 year orgo, 1 year physics, and then bio stats and bio calc. now will ross take all those classes and compile them to make up my science gpa? or will it be just the required 1 yr bio and the rest that they ask for on their website. bc if you think about it, if you didnt do so well on the advanced bio classes that could seriously harm your chances of admittance, but if a finance major took just the bare minimum that they require and scored the exact same numbers as i did on the 1 yr bio, chem.....etc and didnt take any other science courses his sceince gpa would contain less courses, and ultimately could be much different. so basically im asking is when calculating the science gpas do they take the entire science courseload, or just what they ask for on their website. bc my gpa for what they ask for on the website is a 3.1 but add in the rest of the bio classes and 1 more math class, and its a 2.89 SUCKS I KNOW!!!
i hope i didnt confuse anyone! thanks

Yes, it is all of your science courses that you needed to satisfy your bio degree. These include gen chem, o chem, physics, math, basic bio, genetics, cell bio, and the crap courses you probably had to take just like I did (i.e. Ecology and Plant Phys). Hey, I scored well in those courses so those bumped my GPA up!

I listed this in another posting, but this is a great online GPA calculator. You have to pay to use it but it is the best I've seen.

just thought id post this if anyone else had any questions about how the admissions people decide the gpas. i got this email from a director of admissions today:

Hello Michael,
First of all, thank you for your interest and interviewing at Ross
University School of Medicine!

We pull 3 GPA's. Your prerequisite, your advanced biology/science and of
course we consider your overall GPA. Our calculations factor in all
attempts in each course. If you earned an F, retook the course and merited
an A, we would include both grades.

Of course our attention is more toward your biology/science results in
respect to your grades.

All aspects of your application file are taken into consideration. If you
score 24 or higher on the MCAT as you predict, that will certainly raise
your competitiveness. MCAT's of 20 and higher are beneficial. The
committee will not render a decision until we have received the official
notice of your MCAT scores.

If you have any other questions you may email me directly. Good luck!

Senior Associate Director of Admissions
