intership question

What are the chances of me getting an intership in somthing besides family practice and internal medicine. I wouldn't mind having a sub-specialty in interanl medicine, but I prefer surgery. Does it all depend on my USMLE scores? Thanks

Board scores are probably the biggest factor, but who you know and who you impress can have a lot to do with it. G

Board scores are important. Be sure to note the Residency database on the AUC alumni website... http://www.aucalumni.net/

There is a running database of all residencies obtained by AUC grads. If you want to go into a certain field, there is a way in.
