OK In a nutshell...Finished 5th term in Normal in Aug.
If i was to do it again or perhaps offer advice this is what I would do from the first day of 1st semester:
1-get all the 8 kaplan book and videos.
2-as i go thru the classes(and go to class) ... watch video and go along with kaplan book, taking notes
3-do some questions pertaining to subject(s) everyday.
4-before class exam ( abt 1 week ) rev all teachers notes, ppt, whaterver and rev my kaplan notes.
5-Finally after 5th term take Kaplan live ( after re-viewing videos (all) again).
ok so this is me- this is what i would/should have done. i am taking kaplan now and really love it. i wish i would of rev videos before starting live lecture, but i am managing...
ok so thats it ( IMHO ONLY)

What made you pick Kaplan over say Pass or Falcon or one of the other reviews?

If you want a book to supplement, like people use First-Aid, but want a better book? Get the Kaplan MedEssentials book. It it similar to First Aid in that it is condensed, but, it has much more information. Even an online component that you can use for 6 months.
Hope that helps!

i just finished 5th too
if i was starting over, and i have thought this before, but i would also do kaplan throughout basic sciences
i wouldnt buy the school textbooks
i would follow the powerpoints in class, but use the kaplan books/vids
1st aid is also a must
by the time you get to 5th term, you have gone through all the kaplan books already. you will have gone over the high yield material.
brs is solid for some subjects, pharm, physio. rapid review for path.

sounds good, Oasis, thanks! :)
so far in first term, the books i'm happy i bought are the anatomy text, netters atlas, BRS anatomy, public health book, and first aid 2009. the rest, i didn't bother getting and if i did need any, got them from upper termers. it helps me to study the powerpoints first then read the text to clarify (like if the professor went too fast in lecture).
i've kinda used kaplan this term, but honestly think it's worthless first term (except for embryo -- i really liked the embryo vids) as the professors are pretty solid. i use first aid to make note in my powerpoints of what is high yield for the step...so far the important points have been covered in my classes.

i have been going through this thread but just want to ask about the duration of each class for MD1 and subsequent classes. I would be glad to hear from any current student from the school.

I have a challenge: if you can go through, 10 str8 hours of Anatomy without any breaks in the middle, you will pass step 1. Oh and your eyes should be open at all time.
