Oasis trick

Hey everyone!

I am taking my exam in 10 days and I was wondering how I can check whether I passed or not using the "Oasis" trick without having to wait 4-6 weeks for my results. I heard about it, but don't know how it works. Can someone explain what I have to do and when to check on my status.

Good luck on your exam, it is a difficult, but doable test.

To do the Oasis trick, you usually have to wait around 3 weeks after your test date. Here is how it works:

1. After your exam, occasionally sign into your Oasis account and look under the heading "Score Reporting" in the left column. When you click on it, their should be sections appearing for Step 1 Step 2 CSA, etc. If there is a date under where it says Step 1, then your score has been reported (it will be blank if your score has not been reported to the ECFMG). This trick ONLY WORKS ONCE YOUR SCORE HAS BEEN REPORTED!!

If your score was reported, sign out of Oasis and go back to the ECFMG home page. There should be a link to follow in order to sign up for the USMLE online. Follow these links and attempt to sign up for the USMLE STEP 1 again as a new application. Here is where it happens:

*drum roll please*

1. If the website allows you to sign up for the Step 1 again, then you have failed.
2. If the website stops you and flashes a screen with bright red letters, stop and read the page. It will tell you that you can not sign up for the step 1 again because their records indicate you have already passed that exam........... CONGRATS!!
