Sorry I could not find the thread for this topic. If an admin would kindly transfer it over before I get screamed at!
What are my chances for St.Matthews?
2.9 cum GPA
2.5 science GPA (not including Math)
300 hours volunteering in the hospital w/ shadowing.
150 hours Suicide Hotline mentor volunteer
150 hours child abuse & rape mentor volunteer
1 recommendation from a science professor.
2 recommendations from doctors.
I haven't taken my MCAT yet.
What do you guys think so far? Will a good MCAT 25+ score help me at all? Or is it all too late for me.

You're golden at smu. Break a 20 that's all you need.
Just make sure you research your schools, only go to smu if you got no other options. You must apply to AUC, SGU, and Ross and if one takes you don't think of going anywhere else.

Wow really? People were telling me for SMU you needed 29+ MCAT score and a 3.5 GPA to be lucky to get in HAHA, go figure!

You just need to have the money, be able to sit for hours without too many visits to the bathroom, take notes and be able to bubble scantrons. Any other skill is just extra and not needed at all. Seriously speaking, tell them that you have the money, just have an elementary school diploma and more or less understand and speak English... you'll be accepted.
Don't be fooled. You can get in, maybe not. Depending on why your GPA is 2.5.
Keep in mind that getting in doesn't mean jack. Staying in is what matters.
Everyone is thrown into the middle of the ocean w/o a life raft, its up to you if you survive. So don't get to excited about getting in, a monkey with cash can get in. That doesn't mean that you will graduate or even pass the step. B/c lets face it, the step is where everyone is even.
Bottom line; before you jump for joy, make sure you know your self and your limitations so your not just wasting your daddy's money. If you are unsure, then just ask him to buy you a condo instead.

As Diva said... "dont be fooled" ....
I personally know of several people rejected because their GPA's were low or MCATS
were low. So, hopefully you get accepted, but getting into med schools is easy
...its passing BAsic science..and Step 1 thats the challenge...
so as that Cruise line TV commercial says...
"buckle up buttercup"...... lol
