can anyone direct me to other schools besides antigua, destiny, oceania, and iuhs that off a distance learning program?
i would be interested in them but they are very evasive on their program structure.
i am a nurse with 3 children and my only viable option would be this dsl
program unfortunatley.
thanks

There is no state that I am aware of that would give you a license after completing an online program. This has been discussed often on VMD. Even if you find such a school, you will most likely waste your money as you will never be able to practice.

Wrong, I have 2 personal friends who have onkline basic sciences via online and are licensed in 2 different states, both from IUHS btw.;)
That said, I do not recommend it anyway. HUGE GAMBLE. THEY TOOK IT, THEY WERE LUCKY!!

Those are pretty much it. HUGE GAMBLE! Don't do it.
Reason why they are evasive on their program structure? Simple...marketing, they like to keep it a secret, like joining a lodge or secret society, not a good thing, isn't it?
In a nutshell let me tell you how it works...First you need to secure a sponsor or mentor, second, they deliver to you a series of modules based either on case presentations or subject items, depends on the school, they give you X amount of time to study it, then they examine you on it, HOW? That is probably the MOST controversial part if it. One particluar school uses prometrics, or used to, i don't know if they still do. You do that for the entire basic sciences 2 years, then you take an exit examination from the school before they let you take the USMLE I. Then, if you pass both, they will set you up for CLINICAL ROTATIONS at different hospitals, either Atlanta or Chicago, depends on the school. Hope that helps.
The method is very controversial since it has very few licensed graduates, but they do have a few, reason why you should not do it. Ultimately they will let YOU be responsible to find out where you can get licensed, and they will assume NO responsibility or whatsoever about that, after of course, taking your $$$.;)

thanks so kindly for the concerns of liscensure. it is not
my integral focus at this pont in time. i seek my medical degree for other concrete avenues that i may possibly channel such as research, teaching, ect.
i dont want to deflect the issue, but i still need my original question to be feilded as to all viable dl programs that may avial to me presently so that i can cement the most appropiate choice to better my future.
i know there is a huge diversion of opinion and opposition on these boards
but i hope someone can actually understand my predicament and field my question.
thanks folks

Not to be rude, but I answered your question already, the programs you mentioned are the only ones in existence that at least have been around for sometime now (those are pretty much it). I do believe Antigua is canning theirs.

Funny you mentioned onlinee learning. I have some friends in the first 2 years at UCSF. They tell me many students don't attend classes, but simply use the schools online materials. They stay home or in dorms or could really be anywhere geographically.
The big dilemma is although US LCME schools can do what they like and online enrollees may not step foot in classrooms, the out of country schools are super scrutinized and medical boards are generally not happy with granting licensure.
You can rest assured that state medical boards never even ask USMG's if they studied online

Good you mentioned that because I also know someone who moonlighted as a security guard during his first 2 years at an LCME US school, he rarely went to lectures, he was religious in his labs though.

I am not aware of an online program either, but many schools do offer as many online education classes as possible for part of their curriculum. So it would be worth looking into.

Theres a guy at my school who did the bahamas ross thing distance learning, and now hes here in europe doing everything all over again. Because no state would allow him to practice due to it being online. I would not recommend it...
