Has anyone gone through this rotation? Does it count as green or is it covered by the Family practice umbrella?

I'm starting there later this semester. Also anyone know any safe places to live in that aren't too expensive in Chicago? Thanks.

The only way to find out if ANY site is GREEN or is a valid teaching program is if (and only if) the site has RESIDENTS and/or US medical students rotating in the same rotations. No other way around this rule. If your OBGYN rotation is at Hospital X, and is affiliated with Hospital Y, check the ACGME (acgme.org) - look up sponsored programs, click on the hospital, click on details and see if Hospital X is listed.:-smiley7

If it is through AIME, then it is most likely under the St. Mary/St. Elizabeth Family Medicine "umbrella". There are a few different preceptors that they use, and some are better than others. As for a place to stay I know of a guy who rents out a room:

Completely furnished - TV, Bed, desk and chair. Share a bathroom and kitchen with him. Great location, about 1.5 miles from Wrigley Field! $575 per month, includes all utilities. No lease, just pay month to month. The guy is a male grad student, in his early 40's and has a dog. I really enjoyed the area, close to Lakeshore drive, Lincoln Park, and downtown. CTA bus transit just outside front door. Brown Line train within walking distance, Blue line just a quick bus ride away. Minutes away from hospitals on the North Side of Chicago (St. Mary's/ St. Elizabeth's). 9 miles from Mt. Sinai Hospital. About 20-30 minutes from Jackson Park Hospital. Address is 2340 W. Addison St. Chicago, IL 60618. If you are interested, email him at: errol_s@comcast.net to see if it is available.

Good luck!

The umbrella business can get a little tricky for future licensure...check FREIDA...besides, why learn ob/gyn or surgery under a family medicine umbrella? anyway, good luck...we all take chances.
