Could the 5th semester students do me a favor? Please post an approximate % of time or number of days that is spent at each facility:

Ross Headquaters

Ashe Auditorium

Koubek Auditorium

Center for Haitian Studies

Larkin Community Hospital

South Shore Hospital

Thanks very much and best of luck to all of you.

I completed 5th last semester. Here you go:

Ross Headquarters- At least once a week for small group, but I found myself going here 2-3 times a week. Recommend getting a place near here (i.e., Kendall, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, South Miami). I do not recommend living on South Beach. Too expensive and too far away, not to mention nowhere to study. If you get a place near Ross HQs you can study at the UM Law Library.

Ash Auditorium- Once a week.

Koubek Center- 2 days at the beginning and then never again.

Center for Haitian Studies- Everyone does a week here. Good lectures and good overall experience.

Larkin/South Shore- Everyone does a week at one or the other.

3 weeks of 5th are independant study weeks.

Hi Dru, below is the information you requested. Have you found the Miami site helpful? Any other general info which you or any other students would like to see there?

Ross Headquaters: Depends on the week, but 1-2 times per week officially for case studies, ACLS, meetings, etc. The computer lab, the RUSM Miami office, the TA's office, etc is there so many students spend quite a bit of time there.

Ashe Auditorium: One full day per week. Towards the beginning of the semester students may go there twice per week for large group lectures and Orientation.

Koubek Auditorium: This facility is not used for all semesters. This semester students have had to go there one time for Day 1 of ACLS. Last semester we used it more. It depends on the size of the class and the availability of the Ashe Auditorium.

Center for Haitian Studies: Students are assigned there one week for small group clinical topic lectures. The students aren't studying Haitians, they just use that facility since the physicians who lecture there are based out of that center.

Larkin Community Hospital: This is directly across the street from Ross HQ (the 7000 Building). Some students have a one-week clinical assignment there, some don't.

South Shore Hospital: Most students wil have a clinical assignment at South Shore for one week.

There are tons more clinical sites which include large clinics, private facilities, and other hospitals which students will rotate through on a weekly basis. However, the ones listed on the RossMiami site are the most consistent and larger sites.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for your immediate and comprehensive answers. This will help my daughter and other students make sensible choices in where to live. I'm going to have to rely on my personal friends to guide us in selecting the safe areas.

The Miami Ross site is great. The only other thing I wish there was is one big map with all the clinical sites...sort of an overlay of all the individual sites mentioned.

There is actually such a map. You can follow the link below to go that part of the site:

"Home" is Larkin/7000 Building HQ.
