I've heard that some Israeli school graduates did not require ECFMG certification, and were therefore, not considered IMGs. Rumor? Fact?

Hi,

I'm currently first year in MSIH-Ben Gurion University. I believe we are required to abide by all ECFMG regulations.

Anyways, I love my school and its unique program !
If you have any question, pm me.

Hope that helps,

I have never heard of any instance where are foreign medical school did not require ECFMG certification. No biggie, though, as long as you can get documents in on time... and the USMLE is the same for everybody.

Any medical school located off of US/Canadian soil must abide by ECFMG regulations. This is even true for Cornell in Qatar (which is every bit the same as Cornell in the US). Cornell in Qatar tried to get LCME accreditation, but it didn't fly. Nonetheless, their graduates get amazing residencies.

Overall, ECFMG is not a big issue at all.
