So I emailed Pat Park, who is part of the Medical Board in California about the updates with Cali and AUA. This is what she said:
"Allow me to correct a false rumor that was spread a couple of
months ago. The Medical Board of California has NOT sent a representative to
inspect the American University of Antigua. If someone from California visited
AUA recently, it was coincidental that they live in California. That person (or
persons) has no connection with the Medical Board of California's review of AUA.
They did not visit AUA at the Board's request.
There has been no progress in the Medical Board's review of AUA in the last nine
months. In November 2008, we mailed AUA a request for additional information
that our Medical Consultant needs to receive in order to continue his review of
AUA's application. AUA did not reply to our letter. Last month, we mailed AUA
another letter asking if they plan to submit the requested information. We're
waiting for them to reply and let us know their plans."
So I guess AUA hasn't done anything lately with Cali.... :(

Based on what I've been hearing before, I always thought that the rate limiting step was cali, not aua. I wish this would be addressed what the hold up is, and why we are not jumping on pushing this through.

I'm "pretty" sure that cali requires a site visit. AUA is not going to want a site visit until the new campus is completed. So if I had to guess, i'd say wait until after the new campus is done, then we'll probably see more of a push for cali approval. But that's just my opinion...

Maybe Tipton can answer this question

I dont think new campus is an issue here. if it was regarding new campus, they should have submitted required documents. new campus is almost ready; besides dorms which might take couple of more years...lol. I also want to know what mr tipton or mr woodward wants to add more regarding this pending evaluation. but i highly doubt, they will.

If there is a good reason for waiting that maximizes approval chances, I completely support them as well as probably the rest of the student body. I hope that this is the case and there is a sound logic behind their interactions with california. I hope I get an answer besides speculation.

I hope so too.

Yeah. Neglecting to respond to the medical board's letter will DEFINITELY improve AUA's chances.
Then again, maybe they're just playing hard to get...

Well, I just called P this morning and she told me that if AUA does not respond to the letter, then the CA board process cannot move forward. She told me that CA Board does not know what AUA plan to do, whether they want to close the application or not. So I guess even if AUA has a good reason to wait, they should at least let the board know rather than just let them wait and wonder what is going on in AUA.

You called her this morning? It's 6am in Sacramento right now. Ms. Park must work some loooong hours!

AUA fully intends to respond to the questions presented by the California board. Some of the questions took some detailed analysis in order to provide them absolutely accurate information. We have been, and will continue to diligently pursue approval from the California medical Board. We want to do everything right to give us the best chance at approval on the first go around. Rest assured, this initiative is at the highest priority for the legal and senior management at AUA. In fact, the last submission is scheduled to be delivered to California on September 21st.

Thank you for the update. Please continue to keep the student body apprised.

okay, let me correct myself. I called her yesterday and we had a long talk about 25 minutes. I did not lie. Sorry about the time but I did call her to ask about the e-mail that someone here wrote to her.

There has been NO official visit from anyone from the California board. As was stated, someone from the California board may have been visiting Antigua, and stopped by to see AUA, but we have NO knowledge of this.

Thank you for the update. Once AUA gets it new campus completed and (hopefully) gets California approval-- things will be looking on the up and up.

the new campus is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the end of October and this might be a sign or some sort.
