No, They just need proof of insurance or letter from the school and visa application. They sent my passport back in few days via mail. No trouble at all.

I didn't go there. I mailed the passport and application with school letter to Los Angeles embassy. I think S.M embassy is asking proof of loans extra from you.

How long did it take you to get a Visa? can you usually get it on the spot?

maybe it's because (unless I'm mixing you up with someone else) you're not going into 1st year. maybe that's making them take a second look...

No actually they didnt even look in my passport nothing only the paper i got expedited from hmi stating the insurance and the acceptance letter.. They wanted to make sure i have enough money coming into the country for example they want to see my loans and some bank statements. but unfortunately i only got my sallie mae receipt and im still in the process of getting my fafsa due to some corrections. I might either just wait till i come back in the winter break or ill just visit my family in Moldavia which is a non schengen country therefore i can get another 90 day visa, although not recommended due to people having problems for stamping too much.

its my first year coming in also..

Glad to hear it ^_^
I was gonna tell you not to stress too much, since visa seems to be one of the things on their orientation week topics, but I'm glad you've got that squared away beforehand.
