don't send that MCAT score. AUA doesn't require the MCAT. only send it if you retake it and end up getting a much higher score.

During my interview I was asked my score, but they never asked for me to send my score.

Apply now, write down everything. Do not mention MCAT. Tell them you were not able to take it.

Do not get placed in Extended Basic Sciences. Ask your inteviewer what that is. Sound interested, ask questions and your gravy.

I would apply and see what happens. They are not going to use you MCAT to determine acceptance. If you want to attend Jan 2010 apply ASAP.

Great advice!!! start your medical school and career with a lie!! that is if they don't catch this lie and you even get in.

AUA does not use the MCAT for admissions. Period. (notice the punctuation there?).

The ONLY time I would suggest to an applicant to submit her MCAT is 1) if she is marginal with her academics and 2) has a decent (mid-20s and up) MCAT.

But please don't lie. If/When we catch you in even a simple lie, we will reject or deactivate your application.

So you dont want me to lie, but want me to submit it under those 2 considerations. Does this mean I am not lying if I do not submit it?

I believe the application does ask, HAVE YOU TAKEN THE MCAT?

This really isn't that complicated. Do what you want.

ckintuition- thank you for trying to help, but I definitely would not lie to the admissions committee regarding any portion of the application process- certainly not the best way to begin.

Tipton- thank you for your advice as well.

apply to ross.

That is a good idea... I would apply at AUC also.

Your MCAT is good and could make up for your GPA. If you have a decent science GPA you should have no trouble getting into either one of those schools. Then you wouldn't have to worry about loans.

I think you have a shot at AUC, SABA and Ross....gpa and MCAT too low for SGU. This is just my opinion, apply and find out!

Need that physics class otherwise you will be put in premed 4 probably, (one semster of premed) and promotion of Med 1 with successful completion with 3.0+ gpa.

Take a decent MCAT prep course and aim for a 30+. Then, apply U.S. medical schools.

As already said, if accepted you will be put into premed.

My advise:
I would do physics at home because of the cost and work on completing a 4 yr degree. You will eventually be competing for residency positions with others that have a degree. The NRMP data showed only 47.8% FMG's matched in 2009 down 4.1% from 2008. With declining match results I would do everything to make myself competitive.

Good luck with what ever you decision may be!

I dont have a degree, therefore i cant just take MCAT and apply for U.S school ..
I am planning to finish my undergrad online along with the med school - I think I will have to take around 8 classes. Does it matter where u finished ur degree?
Thanks everyone

You have a good experience n decent GPAs. I will say what everyone else is going to say. Study hard, retake MCAT and apply to US schools

I graduated 3 years ago from a Tier 1 school with a non-biology, B.S. degree but did take some science classes. I took remaining pre-reqs at both my alma mater and a community college. I admit that my grades are very bad. I work ~25-30 hours per week.

GPA: ~2.5
Currently taking Organic
D/C in Physics I/II
D in Genetics
C in Cell Biology
C/C in Chem I/II
B/B in Anatomy I/II
C/D Biology I/II
A in Pathophysiology
B in Calculus I
MCAT: none
Hospital volunteer (in high school)
Public Health research experience: 2+
Work in a doctor's office: 6+ years
Upper intermediate Spanish-speaker (7 years in school)

Could I get in without the MCAT or should I take it to enhance my already lackluster application? Or should I not even bother and instead do an M.S and then apply? (I'd be fulltime, not working) I'm already non-competitive for US schools and I wonder if I can get into AUA, which is the one school in the Caribbean that has the most appeal to me. Please advise.

A Master's degree will help your overall academic profile. But AUA's Admissions Committee is still going to look at your prerequisite courses separate from everything else.

Your best opportunity at AUA would be to apply as a Premed student.

I will be graduating in May 2010 with a B.S. in Biology.
Classes I've taken (all were with lab) and grades:

Overall GPA: 3.0
Bio 1: C
Bio 2: B
Bio 3: C
Gen Chem 1 & 2: C
Organic Chem 1: C
Organic Chem 2: will take next semester
Physics 1: B
Genetics: C
Anatomy and Physiology: D
other bio courses were B average
- over 500+ volunteer hours
- shadowed many physicians

What are my chances of getting in with these grades?
I haven't taken the MCAT yet, will taking the MCAT with a score of around 24-26 give me a chance at admission?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

A little too close to call. Best thing is to apply for Basic Sciences and see what they say in the interview process.
