what is it with you posting this message in multiple forums? I mean do you ACTUALLY go to AUA AND MUA? God knows where else you posted this message, its not even worth it for me to look it up in your profile. Why ask this question at two different school forums?

You can usually show up after the first week and still be alright if you're a good student. But as a first semester student, you have no idea what you're getting into, and you've never handled such a course load, so that puts you at a disadvantage. Assuming you also have to situate yourself with the island, the people, and cliques, you're doing what most have done either the week before school started or the week that school started.

Also, understand that you can only miss 20% or less (depending on the prof) of your classes before you're automatically withdrawn from the class. By asking now, and still not having bought a ticket, I doubt you're ready to tackle the island. Think hard about coming here before you spend more money and be in a bigger financial hole.

Just my 2c.

when you say that you have been told that you can come to the island this weekend, I'm assuming a school official said that. In which case yes, you should be able to catch up. If you do start, I think you have 2 weeks until your first of five major block exams, good luck.

If you are having financial problems even before starting, you should consider the total expense of medical education in your decision to attend. Medical education is only worth something if you finished everything and get into a residency. I'm trying to finish my medical degree on a budget and I figure it will cost nearly $140,000US.

Don't bother ...:nono: get your affairs in order and show up in 4 months. Noobs (as in newbies) need at least a few days to transition to "da island mon"

I agree with Joe. Been there, would not want to start that way. Sounds crazy. It's best to plan what you're taking, and be there a few days early to get into routines before the Psunami hits you.
