I'm curious to if there are public libraries on the island? Not that I would have time to read, but my wife is a big reader. Are there libraries close by???

yes there is a public library in Philipsburg. My daughter goes to story hour on Thursday afternoons. They have DVDs as well as kids books and I'm told the adult section would be a small town library equivalent. At least there is something and I know my daughter really enjoys going there.

Peg Leg Pub (a restaurant in Simpson Bay) has a book exchange, I believe...just trade your old paperback for another one off the shelf (and have some deep fried brie and some of the best steak on the island while you're at it!).
Aloha,
Peg Leg Pub

They have some kewl T-shirts and stuff, and also, as an added bonus, you can prolly finish one book by the time you get your meal, and then you can swap it again before you leave!
