Special requirements for CA and NY

I was told that if I want to practice medicine in CA I need to take Family Practice as an elective, and I need to take ER and Neurology if I want to practice in NY. Is this true? Where can I go to verify these requirements? Is there any other special requirements for any other states? Thank you very much.

yes for CA, not sure about NY
you can find out on each state's medical board/license website.
