G'luck to my fellow residency applicants!!!! here are some inspirational quotes i thought were applicable, enjoy!
"Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women." Conan (the barbarian)
"It's good to laugh at yourself, but better to laugh at others." Jay Peterson (some dude i met on the subway)
"Fight like a cat, paws up! If you're going to fail, fail like a man. Fail with your belt tight! Don't tighten it up now, it's too late" Ozzie Guillen (chicago whitesox manager)
"To me it's always a good idea to carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way when someone says, 'Hey can you give me a hand?' You can say, 'Sorry, i've got these sacks.' Jack Handy

im currently sittin on 2 in anesthesia....just wondering how other people in 'competitive' residencies (surgery/anesthesia/radiology/etc/etc) are faring. Not to knock IM or peds but it seems those are the only interviews going out and the other fields that interview a smaller pool of a more selected population seem to be taking their time going over applications and deciding. Just wondering if the rest of you guys agree with my assessment......and that way i can stop BUGGING OUT

I was thinking the same thing...I've definitely talked to more people that are getting IM/Peds/Family Med interviews than anything else. I'm applying for EM and have gotten 3 from university programs...hopefully more to come =0)

sgMD: you'll have to ask everybody else for their stats. 248/254; 2 poster presentations accepted at national conferences, good LOR's. I havent mentioned my dieselness, will wait for interviews i hear thats actually wat they wanna hear is people that are well rounded and do things in life....which is me. But even with those #'s i feel im struggling for IV's; no med prelims have answered yet and only 2 surgery ones have (albeit they are at NYC top spots) but its a little disheartening. I've said from day one if you dont have 99's good luck matching into top residencies (if you dont have connections that is). Life as an IMG is hard and if you dont get a connection through rotations you really need those 99's man, no joke.
PS - i only have one rejection (UNC for anes) so im not sure if im still alive for other programs that have sent out IV's or if they are just going to ignore me like hot girls that i ask out on dates when they are sober?

as of today,
10 rads
4 prelim
definitely surprised with what programs have sent interviews and which ones sent rejections (well, maybe not the rejections so much... i mean, i'm still a foreign grad).... seems random almost.
still kinda surprised with the lack of prelim invites although i was kinda specific about the location...
from what i've been hearing, we may have the best match placement yet.
good luck on the interview trail!!!!
