this is not a well known uni in china. nanchang is the capital city of jiangxi province, which locates in the southeast part of china. in fact there are no good universities in this province. the other thing is that, not like shanghai or tianjing or beijing, jiangxi province is rather backward and some places are poverty stricken, i am sure you would not get used to the life there, even i wouldn't (i grew up in shanghai). therefore in my personal opinion nanchang uni is not recommended.
also not sure if its mbbs program recognised, however i didn't find it in the list here:
careerinchina.ca/mbbsuniversities.html
though this list is outdated. but anyway, even i have never heard this uni provides mbbs.
undoubtedly the best mbbs program currently in china is that of fudan uni, zhejiang uni the second. they are not cheap though. if you have your financial concerns, soochow uni is suggested. this is quite a good uni and soochow (suzhou) is adjacent to shanghai.

meraal,
pls check at the website of the International Medical Education Directory( IMED) of FAIMER ( Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) to see if this uni is in a list of recognised med schools/unis. To find out the result, you will need to fill in the name of the uni, the city and the country. To see more sample of short list of med schools in China, you may try the website of the Singapore Medical Council. Around 8 med schools in China are recognized there. These will give you a "smell" of the uni where you intend to study in China. Good luck.

there is absolutely no way to say that one english taught program is better than another, i would be careful of programs that have not had a graduating class, there are some universities in china that are not well known but have foreign teachers ( mostly from the indian subcontinent) that teach the english section, you would probably get better teaching at these schools. i would also be very careful of soochow(sujzhou) medical, i have heard some horror stories from students that have transfered to TMU from this school.
in my opinion you should take these things into consideration when deciding to go to medical school in china,
1. how many years a paticular university has had an english program/or how many graduating classes they have had, even though the chinese program maybe considered prestigous, there english taught program could be absolutley horrible, as the teachers do not have expierence teaching in english, you also do not want to be the first class going through clinicals, especially if the chinese language is not your native language.
2. international teachers. i have been told that taishan medical and beijing capital unversity have a international teachers, both of these schools are not considered to be a very prestigous medical school. there are other universities in china that also have international teachers. having international teachers is an obvious advantage. but you also have to take into consideration how the clinicals will be.
3. the modernization of a particular school or city in which you will be living in. for the obvious reasons.
after being in china for 3 years, and meeting people who are students at different english taught medical schools, this is what i would tell anyone who is planning on coming to china.
