Hey Salam everyone!

I used this forum over a year ago to get lots of info regarding the admissions process on how to apply to medical colleges in Pakistan. At the time, it was really helpful but it required a lot of work reading through so many pages of information. Alhamdullilah, I received admission into King Edward this year and I'll be leaving to attend classes in December.

I would strongly recommend you guys visit Med Studentz, a website that has everything you need to know regarding the application procedure as well as advice from experienced medical students studying in both private and government medical colleges in Pakistan who sign on regularly to answer any questions you might have. It has all the info. you guys will need and is extremely organized -- check it out! It has helped me clarify so much, I'm sure it would help everyone here as well!

Just go to Google (http://www.google.com) and type in "Med Studentz" and click on the first link that pops up. ValueMD won't let me directly link the site to this forum, but I can assure you going to google and typing in "Med Studentz" will be well worth the effort. I can't emphasize enough what a helpful site it is for those interested in applying to medical colleges in Pakistan.

Good luck and take care!

Advertising another forum is a blatant misuse of your membership of this forum. There are people here like myself who are more than welcome to help out everyone here regarding admission into Pakistan Medical School. The website you mentioned does not offer customized answers, it only directs you to search for answers that have "already been answered"

I can see how one might think so, which is totally understandable. To be quite honest though, the intent of this thread is to help those who want more information about medical colleges in Pakistan. If you're allowed to post helpful links to sites that could help out in a particular topic for a particular thread, I don't see how it's "misuse." The intent of this site is to help address others' concerns and questions, and I think Med Studentz is a very helpful resource in doing so. I'm not discouraging anyone from using this forum. In fact, valuemd helped me a great deal a year ago when I was collecting information. I feel, however, that there is a great deal of relevant information also available on Med Studentz, and that Med Studentz could be used as a valuable resource and at the very least a supplement to this forum for those who really want more info. on the matter.

There are people here like myself who are more than welcome to help out everyone here regarding admission into Pakistan Medical School.

That's awesome man. Nothing beats a personal answer when it's available, I can't argue with you on that one. I hope you continue to do so as it will help so many people who will be grateful that you helped them out. Keep it up!

The website you mentioned does not offer customized answers, it only directs you to search for answers that have "already been answered"

Med Studentz emphasizes efficiency. You have to understand that the most frequent people who answer questions are current medical students. As much as they would like to personally answer each concern/question that comes at them, they simply can't devote enough time to each and every question/concern of each and every single member of the thread. For that reason, they have beautifully divided the site based on specific topics so that users don't need to ask questions and wait for a response. Questions and answers are immediately accessible through both the FAQ and the search function of the forum. A majority of the big questions have been dealt with in the FAQ section, and about 5-10 minutes of searching will help you answer most of your questions. Any additional questions that have not been addressed can be posted in a separate thread or in a relevant one. Yoboy1982, you're really an awesome person for helping out those who want it. But try imagining a scenario in which say 10 different individuals came to you and asked you to describe the entire application process to a Pakistan medical college from beginning to end. Sure, you have the option of writing a personal response to each individual. It would waste a lot of your time though, when you could either copy and paste the same response to all ten people asking the same basic question or make a page addressing that question (the latter of which would be more efficient so that people in future who have the same question can access it as well), and then forward the link to the 10 people who are interested in the answer. This is the approach Med Studentz implements. In no way does it discourage asking questions. Rather, it tries minimize questions/concerns that have clearly been addressed in previous topics/threads that are easily accessible through the "search" function. New questions/concerns, or questions/concerns that have not satisfactorily been addressed in previous posts and more than welcome to be asked again.

I think even you would have to agree that a single thread addressing all IBCC questions/comments/problems, all government college questions/comments/problems, all problems dealing with life in Pakistan, all problems/concerns regarding private medical colleges would be a bit unorganized/inefficient, at the very least. It's easier to extract information when it's presented in a more organized fashion without having to guess where it may or may not have been addressed using just page numbers as reference.

I dont like that maik7upurz guy.

Don't let a few rotten apples ruin the barrel. In an open forum you're bound to run into all kinds of people. Don't let a few that you don't particularly like totally turn you off -- especially when the area is such a goldmine of information!

A vast majority of the Med Studentz contributors are more than willing to help anyone in a productive and friendly manner. Everyone's human though, so it's only natural for some to get frustrated when others ask the same questions which have clearly been addressed earlier or use strange computer slang that is hard to read/interpret. It's just like common sense social standards when you meet or talk to someone who has information you would like. Treat them kindly, nicely, and with at least some degree of professionalism, and you'll get a nice response.

This is the new happening place =) Why dont you post some links over at that site directing people over here too =)

Haha, if anything this is the old happening place. Don't get me wrong, I've been a member of this forum for over a year now, and I can't tell you how MUCH I learned from it. I really appreciate all that this site's creators and those who informed me via this thread did. I just feel that Med Studentz has all that this thread has plus more, all in a much easier and more well-organized format. Anyone who wants to save time/energy and get more information should visit Med Studentz.

I would be more than happy to post links on Med Studentz to direct people over here if I found any overwhelming amount that wasn't already available/accessible there. At the very least, if I found something uniquely useful on this thread, I would reference this thread and this site as the source. Again, I don't hold any grudge/complaint against the efforts this site or this thread is making to educate people about Med. Schools in Pakistan. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition ;)

Hey everyone, I am currently finishing my last year (grade 12), of highschool in Canada and am interested in going into Medicine. I prefer to go into any Medical Government Institution in the city of Lahore. Going into a government institution is a lot cheaper compared to the private. Am i right?

Can anyone please give me the names of all medical government institutions in Lahore and also in the province of Punjab.

Also, if anyone can tell me what is the quota of the number of seats for foreign students in each Government Medical Institutions.

If any Canadian brother is reading this post, can you let me know what OSAP maximum amount i will be eligible for above said Government institutions.

Thanks to all for your help

So I am 23 years old and I want to go to AKU. I graduated from the university of maryland with a b.s. in biological sciences. I was actually born in karachi, but due to American Policy I had to give up my pakistani citizenship when I naturalized. That was when I was 14 years old.

So I really want to become an physician and I have been thinking about going to AKU. I am studying for them anyways because I feel like its my only hope so because my ug gpa wasn't that great and I am hoping with a high Mcat score it can balance my application. I really worrying about getting accepted. How open is AKU to US students? Are there ways I can show them to looks past not so stellar ug gpa and see my potential to succeed as a physician? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh I do help that a huge portion of my family lives in Karachi?

Hi guys,

I am in a little situation and thought this would be the best place to ask. I am a student at a college in Canada, Canadian citizen and had planned to go to some Caribbean university. I recently saw that there are a lot of private medical schools in Pakistan and they say that they are listed in WHO, IMED, and their graduates can sit in USMEL. Obviously they will be cheaper then Caribbean schools and living in pakistan would be a bonus.

So my question is, would it be worth it to go to a medical school in Pakistan and graduate from there or stick to a Caribbean Medical University? If i can sit for the USMEL then there is no need to do further education in the States right?

Any input would be appreciated, if someone was ina similar situation, please post.

Thanks a lot!

I dont think you can compare AKU with DOW. 8) :?

AKU has standards comparable to the US, and the USMLE pass rate is 100%.
