Hi everyone, I am ethnically Chinese, and I have been looking into the idea of attending med school in China (People's Republic of China), and here are some of the schools I've come across.

Please note that all these programs are in Chinese, and in order to be accepted, one must meet a certain requirement. For example, some require a 3rd grade Chinese language level, others a 6th grade level. Please look further into these sites for more information. (Chinese text is in Big5 encoding)

Can someone explain how MBBS differ from MD?
in terms of courses, level of courses, when to do clinical rotation, when and how to choose specialty, etc...
Also do I need to take master or even phd to be equivalent to MD?

Can you be a GP after 5th year of MBBS?
hum...maybe just a general comparison between MBBS and MD, please

Thank you so much!

Did you try Hong Kong? Since it used to belong to Britain, English is fairly common there. However, it certainly makes a lot of sense to have the programs in Chinese as that is the dominant language there. Give it a shot anyway. Best of luck!

I'm not 100% sure but I think the medical schools in Taiwan are not WHO approved or whatever.

This is an interesting point. I looked on the WHO list and Taiwan has "no information listed" but I think much of this is political. On the ECFMG site, Taiwan's schools ARE listed. I'm rather new to all this IMG stuff, so I wouldn't know the techinical details; Taiwanese schools are listed on the ECFMG site, but "no information provided" is under Taiwan in the WHO list.

Many doctors from Taiwan who are in the USA now graduated prior to 1974 (?) (or is it 1978) when Mainland China went into the UN and Taiwan (which was up until then recognized as "China" backed out). And the WHO is a part of the UN organization, so...

China Medical University is in ShenYang, Liaoning Province. I graduated from there and it is a good one in china.
It has 6- and 7-year of English Programs that require both teachers and students to use English in the class. The first one or two years heavily focus on English training.
You might need to ask school for details.
