I just finished up my junior year of college, and I'm getting ready to apply to SGU and Ross for the August 2005 class. I was wondering if any of you all could give me some opinions as to whether I'd have a good chance of getting in for the Aug. 2005 class. I took the MCATs in April and am waiting on my scores. My GPA is a 3.47 and my science GPA is 3.3. I've got three published research papers and a lot of clinical experience and community service. Also, what type of MCAT score would I need to get in order to have a shot at getting into Ross. Thanks a lot!
dunno, probably. Only 1 way to find out, apply and wait.

In terms of MCAT score, I would say anything in the mid 20's and higher is competitive for Ross.
Your GPA is not bad and the 3 papers, clinical experience, and community service should help your application.
My best advice would be to apply as early as possible. Ross has rolling admissions, so they are taking appllications for all three semesters, all the time. If you apply early, there are going to be less seats filled and consequently admissions will probably be less selective. However, if you wait and seats start being filled (and they do fill up fast) for the semester you want to enter, admissions will start to be more selective (it is just good old supply and demand).
On a side not: I'm not sure if it is still true now, but the May semester has historically been the "easiest" semester to get into because the class never got filled (being that it is the oddest time to enter). I entered May last year, and the time it took for me to apply, interview, and receive my acceptance letter in the mail was approximately 6 weeks. However, from the looks of this May's 1st semester, this not may not be the case anymore because this year's May class is full (>300).
Good luck

With your current GPA and a MCAT above 30 you might be in the thick of applicants for a US school. The research papers and clinical experience is an even bigger plus - and another reason to try applying to US schools this summer and fall as well as SGU and Ross. Coming from TX it's a little harder to get into a state school but you never know. Take the extra effort and money and apply for stateside as well as Carib schools - the latter can always be a great backup to not getting in elsewhere.
