Hi, everyone:)

I have a few questions about my premed track. I'm a double major in bio-math with a chem minor. My schools a private college, but not very prestigious, just NYC-style prestigious, it's got like 3,000 something students, but the teachers in the science department are absolutely great, with maybe one or two exceptions, but every school has that :P
Anyways, my freshmen year was the lowest point so far with a 3.04 gpa- i had some difficulties getting used to the whole scene, among other things. If say, I have a BCPM GPA of 3.5, with an overall GPA of 3.6~3.7, with a 35P, what would my chances for med school be? My letters of recommendation would be good (hopefully! i'm not reading them, that is.)
Oh...and really how many hours of volunteer work would I need? My premed advisor said around 200- to however many I can do, but i keep hearing people saying they have like 500 hours and up. I'm tutoring at school and doing volunteer work for a local family doctor.
As for research, planning on finishing two years of credit based research with one year of just volunteer research.
Any thoughts, suggestions, anything at all, would really help me out :D
