View Full Version : alternative loans question
I will be starting in the Sept. class and was wondering when should I start applying for alternative loans. I filed my fafsa online almost a month ago and have heard nothing since about it. What is my next step? Will they send me information on alternative loans?

The FA from Ross is supposed to send you an award letter 8 weeks before you start class. But if history repeats itself you may get it 5-6 weeks before class starts and find yourself in a tight situation if problems arise. Frist see if you can be pre-approved through the three major lenders that Ross uses:
Sallie Mae
National Education Preferred Alternative Loan
IHSL (or whatever it is).
If you get pre-approved great. You just have to stay put and wait till 8 weeks before class starts. If you do not receive a packet by then call the office immediately. Once you get the award letter, you fill it out and send it in. Then you go to Dominica. Once you are there, a refund check will be waiting for you if your lucky. If not wait for it to come through. That my friend is what you are to expect for things to go. Now if the FA office screws things up...give them hell  !!!
