I am currently a MD5 student in Carbondale, and I'll be done in a few weeks. I am interested in doing my core clinical rotations (3rd year rotations) at our affiliate in Birmingham, England.

*Will I need to write step 1 before I can do this, or can I theoretically go after Carbondale?

*Who should I talk to in the information office?

*How would I even start this process?

Thanks guys for any help you can offer! I am looking forward to your responses.

Yes you can start UK clinicals right after carbondale..no step 1 needed...
I guess you have to call the US office regarding the other questions....

Hello, I am also interested in doing rotations in the UK right after 5th. During that time I will also study for the step 1. But I have two questions:

Are there many American students that are doing rotations in the UK because its greenbook and you dont have to fight for spots?

I think its smart because windsor students seem to have to go through a dilemna to get greenbook rotations in the states.

Also, what other locations in the UK are windsor students rotation (ive heard central london besides birmingham as well)? Thank you.

I'm also interested in doing rotations in the UK, but information seems to be scarce. It's more word of mouth. Do we just contact the US office for further info?

Come on guys...you know the school sets up the rotations...so that would be the first place I would go.

That's not the issue. I want to find out about others who are there and who have been there. And if it's legit, and if you're able to come back to north america. I dont wanna go there and find out that i'm screwed.

I have been hearing about doing rotation in England a lot now days. The only down side is that you do not get US clinical experience. Thats a big plus when applying for residency.

BTW you will not be screwed if you do rotations there...best part they are considered Green.
