I heard recently of a student who graduated from one of the offshore medical schools "Bachelor degree programs" had the misfortune of finding out that his or her degree was not recognized in the US. The reason was that the island's local accreditation was not recognized in the US. This lead me to thinking that students should carefully check to see if the pre-med program they are thinking of taking offshore is recognized. Reason why? Well, if you decide not to go to the medical school and try to do something else with your degree it will not be recognized and is basically worthless. You can't use it in some states that have dipoma mill laws and you won't be able to get into another graduate program in the US if they have your diploma evaluated and deem it not recognized.
To check if your potential program is recognized you can contact a University in your area to see if they would accept the degree to attend graduate school or one of the agencies that evaluate offshore degrees.
