Alright so I need some major advice from you guys. After I finished highschool I applied into a few med schools. I got accepted into one and was ready to go the coming fall. But my dad got into this really bad car accident and became a quadapalegic. So I immediately fell into the caretaker roll. I was 18 at the time. A few years passed and here I am today, 22 yrs old and I still have the same dreams of becoming a physician. Thank God my dad is doing better. I'll be ready to leave my dad next september. But I had a few questions to ask everyone. 1. Am I too old to be in a premed program. (ill be 23yrsold) 2. What courses can I take inorder to get my mind back in study mode. 3. Are their any courses I can take during this year to help me in the 6yr program. I really need some advice. I love the medicine world and I must complete this dream of mine. Cant wait to hear from yall.

Hi.. which country are you based in? US or Europe or Asia?
In US - you will have to do 4 years of college and then apply for 4 year MD

In Europe and Asia - you can join a medical course which is for 6 years immediately after your class 12 of school. Just revise your class 12 physics, biology and chemistry.

It will cost you anything from US $ 40,000 to 200,000 over 6 years of your education - depending on where you study for fees + hostel + food and cost of life.

For example:
UK / Ireland - Expensive - fees are in the range of 10,000 to 25,000 euros per annum and food and cost of life is extra.

Germany: Join only if you know German and / or pass a German language competency course. Education is fee but cost of life is US $ 12,000 a year. So you will spend about $ 72,000 on cost of life.

Poland, Hungary, Chekoslavakia etc. Fees + cost of life will be about US $ 15,000 p.a. or US $ 90,000 over 6 years.

Ukraine: Fees + cost of life will be about US $ 6000 p.a. or US $ 36,000 p.a. Ukraine is still cheap as the colleges are owned by the govt. and they have not yet joined the EU so costs are still low in terms of fees and cost of life

PM me if you need any additional information.

I didn't start medical school until I was 37. You are still a pup. Don't worry about it. And don't do your core prereqs at a community college. :D
