I did this rotation last November. Despite that many people says its one of the harder rotations at Flushing, i would not say so. You are divided in groups of 2 and do 2 weeks of gyn surgery, ob floor and obgyn clinic.
The hardest 2 weeks is obgyn floor, u start early at 6:15 to preround and get any missed lab from the day before and usually go till 4-5pm when the night float team comes to sign out. Its really about what you wanna get out of rotation. If you wanna get more involved, there is plenty of opportunity.

GYn surgery could be tough since 2 of you have to cover all cases in the OR. Could be up to 7-8 hours non-stop but then some days could be completely empty. You start about 7 and can finish 3-4pm depending on who is the chief at that time.

Clinic is fun, you are on your own seeing cases and presenting to the attending. All attendings are very approachable and willing to teach. Also, you can get enough down time to study for shelve or whatever else.

I worked pretty hard and had no problems with residents. Calls are usually Q6 overnight. If you work hard, you can honor this rotation no problem.

I did it at Lutheran and liked the rotation a lot. They pretty much have a policy of "do as much or as little as you want". BUT, I will give you fair warning not to blow off this rotation. I did that thinking I would never need OB other than for Steps 2 & 3, and then decided to go into Family Med....and low and behold my program is one of those heavy in OB so it all came to bite me in the butt. Luckily I'm a quick learner and we have the world's best OB nurses who are patient enough to teach a poor lost intern the basics! But anyway, the rotation itself is good. The residents will teach you if you put forth the effort and ask them questions, shadow them, etc. If you hide in the library, they will let you do just that...and you won't get to do any procedures or learn much at all. I liked the rotation but I wish that I had been a little more proactive about the inpatient portion now that I'm in residency myself. Paperwork (progress notes, delivery notes, etc) are a pain and aren't fun, but if you learn it in med school, it will save you a lot of headache in the long run.

I was going to do it there, until I found out that they require an additional two weeks for both peds and OB/GYN. No thank you.
