for all those people interested in practicing in Texas

Senate Bill 616- would clear the way for more doctors in underserved areas in Texas. Author is Senator Shapleigh El Paso.

link to the bill.
It would have passed if more time was available in the Texas legislature.

Governor Perry can sign it into law in the emergency session.
Contact your state senator/representative to voice your support.

How about allowing students from all schools to practice in Texas as long as they meet the state usmle requirements and are licensed in another state. I'd rather have a doc from a lesser known carib school who passed all his exams on the first try and became licensed in another state etc, rather than a guy who took 7 attempts to pass step 1.More evidence to point to the fact that most of the people in charge of licensing have no clue as to what is going on.
