Yay! A fellow Canadian. I'm not polish, so I'm a bit worried about that, but hopefully it won't be too bad. Are you polish?

Mhm yes i am. I've talked to a few girls that went there, one was polish and the other one was just Canadian. One went to the 6 year program, and one went to the 4 year program. They both told me the program is pretty good, but that the 6 year program is more manageable since it's not as clustered as the 4 year program.

drmatty, i really don't think you'll have a problem fitting in. Of all the students admitted to the 6 year program, 50 of them are Norwegian and they speak either Norwegian or English (the school apparently has a contract with Norway). The Canadian girl i was talking about earlier also told me everything was fine, the people were friendly and most of them understand a bit of English.

Thanks Szymonsays,

Are there alot of indians; and blacks there? And also is there a real difference between the medical schools in poland. What i means for the most part ..majority of them are offering medical programs in english, how do i know which one to choose? So far i'm debating between three schools...one in hungary..and the other two are Gdansk University and Jagiellonian (six year program) which school is better? Thanks for your help guys.

If you're looking to study medicine in Poland, your best choice would be either Jagiellonski or Poznan. Both programs are well respected, and the students that graduate from there tend to get residencies quite easily. The other universities (Lublin, Lodz, Silesia, etc.) aren't well known by foreigners, and i've also heard their quality of education isn't as good as Poznan's or Jagiellonski's.

In terms of the diversity in Poland, you won't find many blacks, indians, hispanics and so forth. You'll mostly see caucasian people, but don't let that deter you. Polish people are very friendly and i've never encountered another race being looked down upon by Polish people (based on all the summers i spent there).

I have an Indian friend who went to Lublin, but he didn't like it and transferred over to the Caribbeans. I don't think he did enough research, as he would have probably liked Jagiellonski (he likes big urban cities, and Krakow would have satisfied that for him).

Hey guys! I'm also planning on applying to a 6 year English program at one of the many Polish med schools. I'm Canadian (Toronto) and in grade 12 taking 3 sciences and 2 maths + English. I was originally intending to go into the U of T Life Sci program, like some of my other friends, and eventually go to Med school IDEALLY in Canada or the US, but seeing as how insanely difficult it is to get it, I would have probably ended up attending a Caribbean school such as Ross or St. George...

Sorry for the block of text! Anyhow, so I'd like to know if you did ALREADY get accepted, what average did you have in high school? What was the application process like? The interview (if there was one) was it over the phone or in person, and what questions were asked / was prep needed? Is there an entrance exam?

My average atm is 87-90 so I think I should be okay...I'm not sure though.

The main concern really is money, I'm going to various banks trying to get info on a student line of credit in the amount of roughly $25 000 / year over 6 years (I have no money available need to borrow it all) so If it is possible to fund I'll definitely go.

Anyhow, I think it's great that you guys are interested in the program as well. I've read many great things and have relatives who attended (the polish program though, not english). I mean why waste 4 years getting a B.Sc trying desperately to attain that 3.8+ GPA and a 32+ MCAT in order to get into a local school and pay $40 000 + / year?
