Hey guys!
So I arrived on Sunday...had orientation on Monday...and had first day
of class today. I'm wrapping up studying for the day at the study lounge.
I won't have much time to communicate but I'll try to leave my impressions as the semester progresses.
Thanks for all the advice leading up to this adventure.

Very excited for you! please do try to keep us up to date. It's always nice to have current perspectives on things... Studying 'til midnight already? You waste no time. Good job.

I've joined David this term and the study time required is substantial! Highlights include super friendly faculty and staff, islanders are truly wonderful to us and if you buy lots of groceries in Windwardside, someone at the store will drive you back to The Bottom. :)
My first impression of our first anatomy class was "there's no way the prof will get through all that material in one class." I can hear the upperclassmen laughing now. BUT yes he did in fact get through it all. One anatomy class here easily covered the same material covered in a week of undergrad.
The island itself is stunning. Just lovely. I took the Dawn II over and it was really pleasant - no one actually threw up but a few were nauseated. lol
There's so much to write about this place and the school but so little time. Back to embryology!
Cheers :D

Hi Sydneyriver. We've just had our block two exams (which is why I have a few minutes to play online, lol). I think the class is doing well overall, the workload is reasonable for medical school (ahahaha) and the school staff have been great. The islanders are extremely friendly and seem to welcome us fairly consistently. It's a lovely island - great place to focus and study.
The professors have been solid in their knowledge of the material. It's wonderful to learn from people that really know their stuff. Also, they are very approachable. It's easy to simply walk into their offices as needed and get the help required - the doors are always open.
Some of us have been diving already and it is just gorgeous here! Others have been fishing (I apologize I don't know where they went) and of course hiking and swimming too. The swimming doesn't occur all that often as the beaches are challenging to reach and do require a large chunk of your day!
We are all simply settling in, getting used to the class and study schedule and working together to make this a successful semester. Many upper classmen have been wonderful resources and we are all very grateful for their time and energy - THANKS!!!! :D
Cheers! :)
