Did you guys apply for the January semester or is September already full?

05-05-2009, 11:52 AM
I would also like to know if the September class is full?

B_W_
05-05-2009, 12:46 PM
I applied for May but it was full so they offered January. I didn't ask about Sept. b/c Jan. was more convenient anyway.
Just judging by the facebook group it looks like there are still spots though but you may as well email Elizabeth and ask.

Call the admission office in MA and tell them to send you a deferment application. They'll probably email it to you, you'll fill it out send it in with your seat deposit and $500. If they approve it, that money will go towards your tuition when you start. If they decline it, they'll send you back your $500 check. Hopes that help.

Hey Guys I recently got accepted to both AUA for the fall 09 and Saba for January 2010...I'm still debating.. if any of you were in my shoes which school would you go to?

sgMD
05-13-2009, 10:53 AM
Saba is 50 state

ethanMD
05-13-2009, 11:55 AM
My suggestion would be to take the time and do a search on the forums to find out for yourself. From my research on Valuemd, SABA has been listed by many posters (those that have researched such a question you posed) to be in the top 4 Caribbean Medical Schools. (St. Georges, Ross, AUC ) Each school has its advantages and disadvantages. I did not find AUA being rated above these four. I chose SABA over the other 3 because of 2 reasons: affordability & its success with graduates getting residency in Canada.

Cheers and I look forward to meeting with my future classmates!

Should be under Saba University School of Medicine Jan. '10 ( or 2010).

doctobe3

I figured it would be, but for some reason I can't find it. Maybe it was taken down? If someone has the specific name that would be a great help. Maybe I'm just not smart enough and this is a sign that I shouldn't be going to med school after all.

here is the name:
Saba University School of Medicine - Jan. 2010

with this mentality and your will to give up so easily, I would think twice before enrolling :D ;)

Please let me know where this is said? Does this mean that people who graduated from Saba don't need to sit the PLAB exam in the UK? . The latest website of Saba makes no mention of the UK approval though the old one did in the approval section . The GMC UK website makes no mention of either except to say that the GMC recognises the schools listed in the Avicenna Dirctory. However Saba is not on their disapproved list.

Are you guys paying all cash? Do they have federal loans for Canadians? I'm US citizen and I know they don't have anything available for us, but I was wondering why SABA is so popular amongst the Canadians.

I am not sure what kinda options Americans have in terms of loans.... but canadians get private loands from banks such as RBC or TD and if they are from Toronto, they get some OSAP money ($40,000CA over 4 yrs).

asfar as ihave found out so far... we just have ed-invest.
no other loans on the fedral front. however, i was wondering if someone out here has applied for some private loans apart from ed-invest...
is that the only option we have?
I have had mixed reactions for ed-invest... many complain about the interst rates and origination fees...
what that all about? can anyone please elaborate on this... thanks
