I was told by a school official that they don't have access to the official match list, but it is their students who report to them where they got accept to...
My question is: could a student lie? and how would the school validate it?
There are 2 mayo clinic general surgery matches on Saba this year (very very impressive)... schools like Ross only had one resident accepted to mayo... but they make a BIG BIG deal out of it!!! unlike Saba....I am afraid those two are non-existant!!!

I didn't say everything is a lie!
I asked how the school validates the reported residency matches? Do they even check? And not just Saba, it applies to all other caribbean schools too...

in life you either trust something or you dont. if you dont trust sabas rank list 100% then you shouldnt trust anything that we say on this forum which isnt even sanctioned by saba. otherwise your actions and thinking is inconsistent.
anyway i have no idea if its "verified" altho i really think on some level it is you cant just say you matched mayo gen surg and not do it. Saba is a quality school and has some quality grads (great LOR's, amazing step scores). Im not bashing other schools' students but i have seen a huge divide between saba students and others on rotations (not naming names but we all know which schools are big on wyckoff haha). Of course saba has idiots that slip throu and other schools have studs as well but overall i have not met a single kid that blew me out of the water performance wise or board score wise other than other kids from saba (actually kids from my actual class haha).

Hey Saad,
Thanks for your reply :)
I do trust Saba and believe it or not, it's the only school that I feel is offering quality education to its students..... I mean it....it's been a year I am researching schools, and Saba is the only one that does not seem purely like a business... other schools market their product to you during interview and such....it's somewhat disappointing.... and I guess Saba does not need to show off its Mayo clinic residents.... becuz they speak for themselves.....
Hmm well i know those ppl who matched at mayo in general surg... its true they matched there. School can't really verify everything, no point for a student to lie. They risk of being embarassed if someone found out. Plus most residency program eventually show the name of the residents on their website...

I guess a student could lie, but it wouldn't remain a lie for long, especially at a small school like Saba. Plus, it would be easy for the school to just call the residency coordinator and ask them if so-and-so matched there if they wanted. Also, word gets around between classmates who ends up where, it's a small world.
One of my classmates who matched at Mayo in Rochester interviewed there right after I was there. She asked me about my impressions of Mayo prior to going, though I interviewed there in psych, not surgery. We were both very impressed with the facilities and academics at Mayo.
At one point I had ranked Mayo #1, but ultimately changed it to #7 on my list because I don't like Minnesota winters and I wanted to be closer to my parents in Texas. Very nice psych program, though, would have been delighted to match there. Very possible to do for a Saba student with excellent USMLEs and letters of recommendation.
